Dear Everyday Feminism readers,
A few months ago, you had our back when we were suddenly faced with a financial crisis that threatened our existence.
Across the media industry, dropping ad rates have been wreaking havoc. Even big media companies like New York Times and HuffPo are being forced to lay people off while smaller ones are at risk of shutting down.
So we launched the #SaveEF campaign in May and with your generous donations, you bought us the time we needed to figure out how to best restore long-term financial stability to Everyday Feminism.
Now, we’re launching the second phase of the #SaveEF campaign – with our membership program!
After experimenting with different options, we saw that what our community was actually most willing to do was to just donate to support the online magazine. While it was a little surprising for us, we also get that our articles have become your go-to resource on everyday oppression and you primarily just want more of that!
So we decided to go with a more traditional financial model for magazines and am offering a membership program, similar to a magazine subscription.
With just $10/month, you can make sure Everyday Feminism is never at risk of being shut down!
Unlike many other media sites, Everyday Feminism is led entirely by women of color and queer people of color, fairly compensates those who write for us, and is deeply committed to the personal and social liberation of all people.
We have become the go-to intersectional feminist resource for people seeking to better understand and address everyday oppression in ways that are accessible, relevant, and practical for you – which is needed more than ever during the time of Trump.
So we’re asking you — our loyal readers — to rally behind us once again so that we can back away from the continuous threat of shutting down and FINALLY become fully, financially sustainable.
Being financially sustainable means you will continue getting the life-changing articles you’ve come to expect from us, without the worry of us disappearing – ever.
The great news is that it also means we’ll be able to go ad-free, which is perfect because we can’t stand ads anyway!
Do us a favor? Check out the memberships below and help make sure keep Everyday Feminism is never shut down!

Got Questions? We’ve Got Answers!
- Will this change Everyday Feminism for non-members?
Nothing will change for non-members. You’ll still get access to all the new articles published on our online magazine. However, members will get access to some exclusive additional perks and benefits.
- Can I pay by check?
If possible, we prefer for it to be paid via credit card so you can easily set up your online membership account. However if you can only pay via check, please make it payable to “Everyday Feminism” and mail it to 75 N Woodward Ave #87683, Tallahassee, FL 32313. Let us know via Contact Us form so we can set up your online membership account for you.
- How do I know if my payment went through on this site?
After you donate, you should be sent to a thank you page and receive an email receipt of your payment. If you did not, please let us know via our Contact Us form and we will work it out.
- What are your major expenses?
We run a pretty lean organization in terms of overhead with 80% of our expenses paying for staff and contributors. Within our limited financial resources, we strive to pay equitably and pay for all posts, including even cross-posts – even though the industry norm is to pay nothing or a pretty low fee for even original posts. And since we’re a bootstrapped independent media organization led entirely by people of color, the money to pay for this important work doesn’t come from venture capitalists or a large media conglomerate – which is sometimes the case for other media sites. Instead, it comes from our community of readers, like yourself!
- What if I already donated to Everyday Feminism?
If you’ve already donated to Everyday Feminism, thank you so much for helping us to stay afloat! Your donation allows us to continue offering our online magazine for free to everyone, including readers with more limited financial means. We also invite you to continue showing your support through small monthly payments by becoming a member.
- Why is $5 the lowest amount allowed? Can I give a smaller amount?
We really appreciate your desire to help keep Everyday Feminism alive! In order to ensure our ability to produce high quality work, we have to set the membership minimum rate at $5 per month. If you would like to give a smaller amount, please make a non-member one-time or recurring donation here.
- What if I’d like to donate more than $40/month?
Awesome! We’ll use your donation to offer a free membership to people who’ve applied for a scholarship. Please let us know via our Contact Us form.
- Can I give membership as a gift or sponsor a specific person?
Yes, you can! Please let us know via our Contact Us form.
- I’m broke but want to become a member! What can I do?
It’s important to Everyday Feminism to be financially accessible to our readers even as we develop our financial sustainability. So we offer scholarships that are made possible by Defender members who have the financial means to sponsor someone with more limited means. Please apply for a scholarship here.
- I want to support Everyday Feminism but don’t want to become a member. Can I just do that?
Sure, you can set up a one-time or recurring donation without becoming a member here.
- I’m a vendor who would like to offer a special deal to your members, who should I talk to?
Please let us know via our Contact Us form.
- There’s still ads on the site. Why aren’t you ad-free yet?
It’ll take some time for us to build up our membership to where we can be fully financially supported by our members. Until then, we have no choice but to continue having ads. But if you want us to get rid of them faster, please become a member!
- Is this a tax-deductible donation?
No, this is not a tax-deductible donation but rather a membership program you’re signing up for.
Still got questions? Please ask them in our Contact Us form!
