How Misogyny Impacts Lesbians

Oh hi! So a few weeks ago, I made a video on this channel with my friend Megan about how lesbians tend to get away with a lot more stuff than straight girls do and I feel like I might have led a few of you to believe that society doesn’t treat lesbians as women.

And then I saw that #YesAllWomen was a trending topic on Twitter last night to showcase the misogynistic views of society in light of the California shooting. And I thought this was the perfect opportunity to correct this possible mistake, so here we go.

#YesAllWomen because telling a man you have a boyfriend is safer than telling a man that you’re a lesbian because men respect other men more than they respect our individual sexual orientation.

#YesAllWomen because 90% of LGBT travel companies, travel websites, and marketing campaigns are geared toward gay men. Lesbians are women and women still don’t make nearly as much money as men and therefore can’t afford to go on vacation as easily.

#YesAllWomen because bisexual girls are actually straight and bisexual men are actually gay. It’s not possible to truly love women.

#YesAllWomen because no woman ever asks a gay couple for a threesome.

#YesAllWomen because straight women are usually welcomed in a gay club and if a straight man enters a lesbian club, there is panic.

#YesAllWomen because straight women can experiment with other women and still be straight, but lesbians cannot experiment with men and still be gay.

#YesAllWomen because yes, all women are treated as sexual objects–even lesbians. We are treated as men’s “entertainment” while gay men are “disgusting”.

#YesAllWomen because a transgender woman was quoted just recently saying, “I only recognized the true power of male privilege once I became a woman.”

#YesAllWomen because so many men are now going to categorize me as an “angry lesbian” after watching this video. Well, maybe not…maybe not now.
