Queer and Trans Latinx Speak Up and Out About Love, Life, and Family

Though coming out as queer and/or trans can be an experience of empowerment and liberation, homophobia and transphobia often emerge and ostracize people from their families, communities, and cultural spaces.

While this type of loss has the potential to be deeply painful for any one who experiences it, it’s even more arduous when exacerbated by the racism, xenophobia, and systemic and legislative violence that comes with being Latinx in the USA.

For immigrant and undocumented Latinx, being shunned by one’s family and cultural community can be dangerously lonely and, hence, even more painful.

This video amplifies the voices and honors the resilience of queer Latinx who’ve created family, community, and love while surviving the intersectional oppressions they experience.
