Shugs: Hi. We’re Shugs and Fats.
Fats: And we are here to learn how to spot a feminist.
Shugs: Oh, look. There’s one!
Do you have five minutes to answer a few questions? No we don’t want your money. Are you feminists?
Speaker 3: No.
Speaker 4: Yes.
Speaker 5: I am first and foremost a humanist. I believe in the full realization of both genders.
Fats: Don’t you think men have been realized already?
Shugs: [Indiscernable] is not a feminist.
Speaker 6: I don’t like labels.
Speaker 7: I know that that, um – Ahhhhhh.
Fats: Do you think Kim Kardashian is a feminist?
Speaker 8: No.
Speaker 4: No.
Fats: She’s very much in touch with her feminine side, I think.
Shugs: Yeah. Yeah.
Fats: And so is Kanye West. He’s also in touch with her feminine side. A lot of men…
Shugs: Yes. She’s definitely caught in her feminine side. She’s always naked.
Fats: When you look at someone like her, do you think she’s a feminist?
Speaker 8: No.
Speaker 6: I can believe you’re a feminist, yes.
Speaker 9: Feminity is not this. When you dress like that, everybody looking at you. You see people walk with the short skirt, nobody looking at that, but they looking at you because you look different.
Shugs: So do you think that we should trade our gear and put on some short skirts?
Speaker 9: No, no, no! You should dress like a human being. I come from the Muslim country. I am from Iran, and I’m telling you, you not dressing like it fit into the American society. American does not accept us.
Shugs: What do you think, sir?
Speaker 10: Totally disagree with him, I really do.
Fats: We got a bit of a debate!
Shugs: You’re not from Iran. You’re from here.
Speaker 10: I’m from the US, yes.
Fats: I see. All right.
Shugs: What do you think?
Speaker 10: Everybody’s welcome. You want to be here, stay here.
Fats: So it doesn’t matter what you wear? Everything is okay?
Speaker 10: To me, zero.
Shugs: Can you know something about what somebody believes by looking at them?
Speaker 8: Sometimes we can, but sometimes it can also be like we’re unclear and foggy.
Speaker 11: If someone is dressed a certain way, they are representing to the world that they adhere to a certain set of beliefs.
Fats: So if a woman is wearing a very, very short skirt, what kind of beliefs do you think she’s adhering to?
Speaker 12: I never judge anybody how to dress, or I like or I don’t like.
Fats: Well he’s bald, so he doesn’t have to wear a hijab. He has no hair to cover.
Shugs: Yeah, right. He’s also a man.
Speaker 13: You guys are from out of town.
Fats: Yes.
Speaker 13: I see. I can tell.
Shugs: Do you think a woman with really hairy legs is a feminist, a straight-up feminist?
Speaker 4: No.
Fats: So if you see a woman with really hairy armpits, don’t make an assumption that she cares about women.
Speaker 4: I think by the way you dress and the way you carry yourself you could tell someone’s more spiritual or more religious, yeah. Yeah.
Shugs: So do you think I’m a spiritual person?
Speaker 4: Yes.
Fats: You know nothing about her.
Shugs: To sum up, our conclusion of the night is that if you don’t find that the way people look you can make assumptions about them, you’re not looking hard enough.
Fats: Exactly. You’re being very shallow. Good deep.
Thank you for watching.
