“This is the part of the story when everyone is telling you to run.”
This performance starts out with some fun, light-hearted reminders of horror tropes – remember Goosebumps books?
But we got goosebumps of our own when Brenna Twohy shared a hauntingly gorgeous comparison between struggling with anxiety and living in a haunted house. Her relatable words really capture how anxiety can play tricks with your mind, and make you feel like nobody will ever understand.
In this National Poetry Slam performance, Brenna ended on a positive note: the realization that it’s possible to be loved if you have anxiety, and that love can be a beautiful thing.
