How This Woman Found Self-Love by Masturbating with the Lights On

(Content Warning: Sexual violence)

“When the tree of me falls in orgasm, it does not matter if there is no one else there to hear it, I make a goddamn sound.”

Can you relate to this woman’s struggles? Anna Binkovitz struggled through sexual violence, objectification, and self-doubt.

In this performance of her gorgeous poem “Masturbation” from the 2014 Individual World Poetry Slam, she tells the story of navigating these obstacles – and lifting her spirits through the joy of masturbation without shame.

We find so much hope for self-love in her words, and we hope you do, too.
