“I’ve always felt like a man, but I’m not sure I’ve always been like a ‘manly man.’”
What does it mean to be a man?
Society teaches people of all genders some toxic lessons about what “normal” gender expression is supposed to be. And because those lessons include telling men to hide their emotions, we don’t get opportunities often enough for men to express how these gender norms hurt them.
We hope sharing this video can help change that. Several men share heart wrenching revelations about their relationship with masculinity, their insecurities, and how they’ve coped with narrow expectations.
If you’re a man, let this be a reminder that you’re not the only one who doesn’t meet society’s oppressive standards – and you’re still valuable as the man that you are.
