A Hilarious Lesson on ‘How to Protect White People’s Feelings in the Workplace’

“How dare you – I went to Berkeley.”

Are you a person of color with white co-workers? Ever had to tiptoe around around their feelings around race and racism?

White fragility is a problem. It has way too many white folks shutting down important conversations – and acting like discussions about racism are more offensive than racism itself.

This is a frustrating situation, but here’s something that might help. AJ+’s new channel Newsbroke brings us a satirical HR video called “White Fragility Training: Raising Racial Awareness of White Discomfort with Racial Awareness.”

The video provides hilarious instructions on what it would really take to cater to this defensiveness – and makes an excellent point about what the real problem here is. Hint: It’s not about people of color being “oversensitive.”

The satire feels too real, and we don’t know whether to laugh or cry. But we hope this gives you a chuckle and a little bit of healing from the frustration of white fragility.
